This course is designed for those individuals who would like to become an NRA Certified Basic Pistol Instructor.  (ONLY EXPERIENCED PISTOL SHOOTERS NEED APPLY.) As an instructor, you can experience the personal joy and satisfaction of teaching others the knowledge, skills, and attitude (the basics) that will lead to safe, enjoyable, and successful involvement in firearms and the shooting sports.

Since 1871, a major objective of the National Rifle Association has been to provide education and training in the safe and proper use of firearms.  That objective continues today through its Certified Instructors.  Instructors provide an invaluable service in their communities by training responsible individuals.  As firearm ownership, the shooting activities expand, and more Americans choose to exercise their right to carry a firearm, the need for qualified, passionate instructors will also continue to grow.

What you can expect during this class?

You must complete the NRA Basic Pistol Student Phase 1 on-line portion on the NRA website by following this link .  Once you have completed and pass this on-line course, you will receive a certificate of completion.  Please bring that to the Pre-Instructor Course Assessment, which you must pass prior to attending the actual Instructor Class.  You are required to show proficiency in loading and unloading various types of firearms, clear malfunctions, and pass a shooting qualification.  You must attend both days of the instructor class (8 hours each day) and be prepared to present in front of the class during the second day.  There is no range time during the class.

What Materials will be provided?

You will receive the Basic Instructor Handout, a binder, and upon the successful completion of the class, you will be nominated for certification if you demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attitude.
